Dr. Rookwood’s medical journey began at the International American University College of Medicine, followed by an MBA in Healthcare Management from Davenport University’s Sneden School of Business. She also completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and Pre-Medical Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
After medical school, she practiced in Missouri as a licensed Assistant Physician with advanced training in Internal Medicine. While working within conventional medicine, Dr. Rookwood recognized the limitations of symptom-based care and felt called to pursue a more comprehensive approach to healing.
This led her to train in Functional Medicine through the School of Applied Functional Medicine and become a certified Functional Nutrition Counselor. Today, she practices a holistic, root-cause approach that examines the complex connections between gut health, hormones, inflammation, mental well-being, and lifestyle factors.
Through RootCauseDr, Dr. Rookwood is dedicated to empowering patients with the knowledge and tools needed to move beyond temporary fixes, reduce reliance on medications, and achieve lasting, whole-body wellness.
